The In-Browser Model

Every model renders as a live grid in the app - no download needed. Two views:

  • Core view - The headline story. On a planning model: "Year-by-year P&L and key statements." On an investment model: "Leads with the raise-to-exit arc you'll defend to investors" - key metrics, then the core sheets.
  • All sheets - Every sheet as a tab along the bottom: Dashboard, your vertical's driver sheet (GMV Model, ARR Model, Units Model, Capacity Model, or Orders Model), P&L (Monthly), P&L, Cash Flow, Balance Sheet, Unit Economics, Headcount, Cap Table, Exit & Returns, Sensitivity, and Cohort Analysis.

The Dashboard tab also includes Model Charts - for a marketplace, that's GMV & net revenue, take rate, liquidity (fill rate and two-sided GMV), and buyer/seller cohort retention.

Number Conventions

  • Financial statements use full dollars with thousands separators, and negatives in accounting parentheses: ($196,507)
  • Summary metrics use compact notation: $18.8M, $306K
  • Extreme or meaningless percentages display as n/m (not meaningful) instead of an absurd figure
  • Ratios display as A:B - e.g. a healthy LTV:CAC shows as 3:1

The Excel Workbook (Build It Yourself)

A complete, formula-linked data room - roughly 21-25 sheets depending on your business type. The in-app view and the workbook come from the same engine, so what you see on screen is what you export.

Analysis layer (leads the workbook):

  • Dashboard, Unit Economics, Valuation & DCF, Sensitivity, Scenario Compare, Cohort Analysis, Benchmarks, Use of Funds, Milestone Bridge, Raise Comparison

Statements & schedules:

  • P&L Monthly, P&L Annual, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Exit Valuation, Cap Table, Headcount & Costs, PP&E Schedule, Model Inputs, and your vertical's driver sheets (e.g. GMV Model, Inventory)

The Benchmarks sheet compares your numbers to stage-appropriate bands with computed verdicts - each metric shows Your Value, the Healthy Band, and a Verdict ("On benchmark", "Watch", or "Below band").

See Downloading Your Excel Model for the sheet-by-sheet tour.

The Investor Documents (Build It Yourself)

  • Investor Deck (.pptx) - Finance slides generated from your model, ready to merge into your pitch deck.
  • Investor Memo - A written memo (in-app tab and .pdf download) covering your thesis, your assumptions and their rationale, and your bottom-up unit economics - every figure grounded in the model.
  • Q&A Prep - Dozens of anticipated investor questions grouped by topic (Business Model, Revenue, Unit Economics, Growth, Financials...), each rated Easy / Medium / Hard, with suggested answers and supporting data from your model.

The Review Report

Every model gets automatic checks on the Review tab. On an investment model this includes:

  • A Health Score (0-100)
  • A "Whose numbers are these?" meter showing how many assumptions you've personalised vs left at benchmark defaults
  • "Defaults a VC will challenge first" - the high-impact assumptions still at their industry default
  • A formula explorer - click any flagged output to see and edit the assumptions that drive it

The Raise Plan

The planning preview suggests a raise sized from your model ("You'll need to raise $X by QX 20XX at ~$Y pre-money - a Seed-sized round"). On the free tier the numbers are a blurred teaser; Build It Yourself unlocks the full raise plan, and it seeds the funding round when you build your investment model.
