Dark Mode

What is Dark Mode?

Dark mode changes the app's color scheme:

  • Light Mode: White/light backgrounds with dark text
  • Dark Mode: Dark backgrounds with light text

Benefits of Dark Mode

  • Reduced eye strain in low-light environments
  • Less screen glare at night
  • Battery savings on OLED screens
  • Personal preference for some users

Benefits of Light Mode

  • Better readability in bright environments
  • Traditional appearance matching most business tools
  • Consistency with exported documents

Toggling Dark Mode

How to Switch

  1. Go to Settings > Display
  2. Find the Dark Mode toggle
  3. Click to switch between modes
  4. Change takes effect immediately

How Dark Mode Works

Immediate Change

When you toggle dark mode:

  • The entire app updates instantly
  • No refresh needed
  • Preference is saved automatically

Persistent Setting

Your preference is remembered:

  • Stays the same across sessions
  • Applied when you come back
  • Stored in your browser, so a different browser or device may need setting again

What Changes

In dark mode:

  • Background colors become dark
  • Text becomes light
  • Accents and buttons adjust
  • Charts and graphs adapt

What Doesn't Change

  • Your data and content
  • Downloaded Excel files (formatted the same either way)
  • External links

Tips for Using Dark Mode

When to Use Dark Mode

  • Working late at night
  • In dimly lit environments
  • If you prefer dark interfaces
  • Reducing eye strain during long sessions

When to Use Light Mode

  • Presenting to others
  • In bright office environments
  • When reviewing exports
  • If dark text is easier to read for you

Screen Sharing Consideration

When sharing your screen:

  • Others may prefer light mode
  • Dark mode may not project well
  • Consider switching for presentations

Accessibility Considerations

Readability

  • Choose the mode that's easiest for you to read
  • Consider text contrast
  • Adjust screen brightness as needed

Extended Use

For long working sessions:

  • Dark mode may reduce eye fatigue
  • Take regular breaks regardless
  • Adjust based on your comfort
