Model Versioning & History

Every save is a version. Restore any earlier one from History.

Overview

Radley Finance automatically tracks every change to your model. The History tab shows how your model has evolved, what changed in each version, and lets you switch back to any earlier version.

How Versioning Works

Every time you save changes - through the edit wizard, a section edit, a scenario change, or an upgrade - a new version is created and the previous one is preserved. Nothing is overwritten.

The History Tab (Investment Models)

The History tab A version timeline. The current version is tagged Active; every earlier version shows its key metrics, what kind of change it was, and a Set Active button.

Each version entry shows:

  • Tier and label - e.g. "Marketplace Investment", with the change type ("Initial version", "Model type", "GMV / Revenue", "Other")
  • Key metric summary - platform revenue, cash, churn, CAC at that version, so you can eyeball what a change did
  • Field-level change count - e.g. "2 field-level changes"; expand the entry for details
  • Set Active - make that version the live one

Reverting to a Previous Version

  1. Open the History tab
  2. Find the version you want (use the metric summaries to identify it)
  3. Click Set Active

The model's grid, review report, and documents now reflect that version. Reverting is itself non-destructive - the version you switched away from stays in the timeline, so you can switch back.

Planning Models

Planning models keep history too - access it via the model's action menu. The dedicated History tab appears once the model is upgraded to an Investment model, and the planning versions remain at the bottom of the timeline.

Practical Uses

  • Pre-meeting safety - snapshot confidence: make bold edits knowing the investor-ready version is one click away
  • What-did-we-change reviews - the field-level change counts make diffs between board meetings easy to narrate
  • A/B on assumptions - flip between two versions to compare their key metrics (for quick comparisons within one version, the scenario switcher is lighter-weight)
