Editing Your Model
Edit a section, redo the questionnaire, and watch live preview recompute.
Overview
Your financial model isn't set in stone. Edit assumptions as your business evolves, as you get better data, or to explore different scenarios. Nothing is destructive: every save creates a new version in your model's history.
Ways to Edit
Planning Models
- Adjust goals and assumptions directly on the Model Details step - derived metrics update to match
- For a full rework, use Redo Questionnaire - the wizard reopens with your current values pre-filled
Investment Models
Three paths, depending on how targeted the change is:
- The edit wizard - Click the section's edit pencil on the Assumptions tab (or choose Edit from the model's menu). The full wizard reopens, pre-filled, and deep-links to the section you picked.
- The Review tab's formula explorer - Click a flagged output and edit the driver assumptions right where the problem is (see Understanding the Review Report).
- The Ask AI assistant - In review mode it can propose changes you approve and apply in a batch (see The Model Review Assistant).
The Edit Wizard
- Open the edit wizard - it's the same Required → Enhanced → Review & Submit flow, pre-filled with your current values
- Change what you need; the Live preview panel recomputes your headline numbers as you type
- Advance to Review & Submit and click Create investment model to save
The save creates a new active version; the previous state is preserved in History.
What Recomputes When You Save
Everything derived from your assumptions updates on the next load:
- The grid, key metrics, and charts
- The defensibility score, raise plan, and CFO notes
- The review report's checks
Scenarios: Conservative / Base / Aggressive
Investment models carry a scenario switcher at the top of the Assumptions tab:
- Your scenario choice is saved with the model, and the grid, review, and documents all reflect it
- Use Base for your primary story, Conservative to check runway resilience, Aggressive for the upside case
- The Excel workbook includes a Scenario Compare sheet showing all three side by side
Editing Best Practices
- Change one thing at a time when diagnosing - it keeps cause and effect clear
- Watch the Live preview - if a small input change swings the headline wildly, that input deserves extra scrutiny
- Re-check the Review tab after edits - fixing one flag sometimes surfaces another
- Don't chase a pretty EBITDA - investors respect coherent assumptions over an optimised bottom line
