Quick Reference: Common Questions About Radley Finance
Getting Started
How do I create an account?
On the login page, click the "Sign up" link, then either enter your name and email followed by a password (you'll need to verify your email), or use "Continue with Google" / "Continue with Microsoft".
What information do I need to get started?
Basic company information (name, industry, jurisdiction, founded year) and a rough understanding of your business model, pricing, and growth expectations.
How long does it take to create a model?
You can construct your first planning model in minutes - the guided wizard is four short steps (Business details, Market sizing, Funding goals, Review). Investment models go deeper (Required Questions, then optional Enhanced Questions), and your planning answers carry over when you upgrade.
Is Radley free?
Planning is free forever. The investment tier (monthly statements, exports, investor prep tools) requires Build It Yourself.
Do I need financial expertise?
No. The questionnaire guides you through each step with explanations and examples. The app handles all calculations.
Subscription & Billing
How much does Radley Finance cost?
The planning tier is $0 forever. Build It Yourself is 1,250 per year, shown as US$ or NZ$ depending on your region (the number is the same in both). Two one-off services - Built For You (2,995 per model) and Model Teardown (500) - are rolled out gradually and currently support SaaS businesses only.
Is there a free trial?
Better: the free planning tier never expires. Build a full planning model, see your five-year P&L, and download the planning summary PDF before paying anything. You only need Build It Yourself for the investment tier.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings > Billing > Manage Billing, then cancel in the Stripe portal. You retain access until the end of your billing period.
Can I get a refund?
Contact support@radley.tax to discuss refund requests.
Can I pay monthly instead of annually?
Currently, only annual billing is available.
Financial Models
Which business types can I model?
Five: SaaS, Marketplace, Hardware, Services, and Ecommerce. Each supports both a Planning model and an Investment model.
What's the difference between a Planning Model and an Investment Model?
- Planning Model (free): goal-oriented - set your targets and Radley calculates what you need to hit them. A fast guided wizard, annual statements in the browser, planning summary PDF.
- Investment Model (Build It Yourself): the investor-grade model - monthly financial statements, scenarios, the full prep toolkit (Q&A Prep, Investor Memo, Rehearsal, Ask AI), and downloads (Excel workbook, investor deck, investor memo).
Can I upgrade from a Planning Model to an Investment Model?
Yes! Click "Build Investment Model" on your Planning Model. Your existing answers carry over.
Can I describe my business instead of filling in a form?
Yes. When creating a model, choose "Describe your business", tell us what you sell, your pricing, customers, and goals in plain language, and click "Extract assumptions". We turn it into starter assumptions you can review before building.
Can I start a model from an existing document?
Yes. Choose "Create from existing" > "Upload a document" - spreadsheets (.xlsx, .xls, .csv), PDFs, and pitch decks (.pptx) up to 20MB are supported. Radley extracts assumptions for you to review.
Can I start a model from my Xero data?
The new-model flow includes an "Import from Xero" option. If it shows "(coming soon)", it isn't enabled for your account yet - contact support@radley.tax if you'd like access.
Do models include monthly financial statements?
Investment models include monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements that roll up exactly to the annual figures. Planning models produce annual statements.
What currencies are supported?
USD, NZD, AUD, GBP, EUR, and CAD - chosen per model when you create it.
How many models can I create?
There's no limit. Create as many as you need for different scenarios or time periods.
Will my model update if my business changes?
Models reflect assumptions at the time of creation. Edit your model or create a new one to reflect changes.
Editing & Versions
Can I edit my model after submitting?
Yes. Edit individual sections from the Assumptions/Model Details tab, or use "Redo Questionnaire" (in the three-dot menu on Planning Models) to go through everything again.
What happens when I edit my model?
A new version is created automatically. Previous versions are preserved in the History tab.
Can I undo changes?
Yes. Go to the History tab and revert to any previous version.
Will editing affect my downloads?
Yes. Downloads always reflect the current version of your model. Re-download after making changes.
Downloads & Exports
What file formats are available?
On Build It Yourself, the Download menu offers the Financial Model (.xlsx), the Investor Deck (.pptx), and the Investor Memo (.pdf). Free planning models download a one-page planning summary (PDF). Q&A Prep and Rehearsal live in-app in your model's tabs.
Can I edit the Excel file?
Yes, but be careful with formula cells. Keep the original Radley version as your source of truth.
Why is my download button disabled?
The export is blocked while your model has accounting errors - you cannot export a model whose statements don't balance. Check the Review tab, fix the flagged issues, and the download unlocks.
Why don't my changes in Excel sync back?
The Excel file is an export, not a live connection. Make changes in Radley Finance and re-download.
Can I use the exports commercially?
Yes, the exports are yours to use for your business purposes.
Review & Investor Prep
What is the Sanity Report?
An automated review of your model in the Review tab. It runs families of deterministic checks - benchmark ranges for your business type, stage-specific limits, impossible-input rules, and internal-consistency checks - and flags results as Critical, Warning, Opportunity, or Info, with a Health Score from 0-100.
What is the Health Score?
A 0-100 score of your model's health, shown on Investment models. Critical issues and warnings pull it down; it's labelled Good (80+), Fair (60+), or Needs Attention below that.
How do I fix issues flagged in the Review tab?
On Investment models, the Review tab lets you browse any formula output, see a plain-language explanation and healthy range, and edit the driver assumptions behind it inline. On Planning models, the Review step explains each flag and points you to the input to change.
What is Q&A Prep?
A bank of tough investor questions - tailored to your business type and model - with suggested answers grounded in your model's actual numbers. Available with Investment Models.
What is the Investor Memo?
An in-app memo generated from your model, covering your thesis, assumptions, unit economics, use of funds, milestones, and downside case. Available with Investment Models.
What is Rehearsal?
A practice mode for defending your numbers. It asks you investor-style questions grounded in your model, grades your answers, gives you a fluency score, and lists the assumptions you couldn't defend. Available with Investment Models.
Are the review features accurate?
The sanity report and Health Score are deterministic - computed from your inputs and published benchmarks, not generated text. Always use your judgment and verify important decisions.
